Are you giving a talk?  The room has chalkboards, a laptop projector, and a document camera for your use.
Miscellaneous tourist information

Some general tourist information can be found on Wikitravel’s Atlanta page.  Some conference attendees will be staying in the small town of Decatur, which is physically located inside Atlanta.  (Like Vatican City inside of Italy.)  Wikitravel also has a page about Decatur.

Attractions at Emory:
  1. Emory has its own museum.  It is located very near to the conference building and is, strictly speaking, free.  (They request a donation.)
  2. Lullwater Park is a large park located on the Emory Campus, and is a popular place to walk or jog.

Attraction around the city:
  1. The Georgia aquarium is very popular.  It is the largest aquarium in the world, with 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water, and more than 100,000 animals representing 500 species.
  2. The Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site includes the house he was born in, a church where he was a pastor, and his grave.
  3. The Atlanta Zoo has a baby panda.  Her name is Mei Lan, and she will be just over 9 months old at the time of the conference.
  4. The Botanical Gardens has a special show of carnivorous plants.
  5. The High Museum of Art is Atlanta’s art musuem.  The buildings were designed by Richard Meier (who also designed the Getty in LA) and Renzo Piano.  There is a large kinetic sculpture by Calder (“Three up, three down”) in front of the museum.
  6. Stone Mountain is a large granite dome lying just northeast of Atlanta.  Walking up the back is a pleasant and casual hike.
  7. Boat Rock is a granite bouldering area just west of Atlanta.  You can find some photos on rockclimbing.com

Unfortunately, the local baseball team, the Braves, will be traveling during the conference.  So it is not possible to go see a game.
