Brief Bio

Yousef Elmehdwi received the Bachelor degree in computer science from Benghazi University (formerly known as the University of Garyounis), Libya, and the Master degree in information technology from Mannheim University of Applied Science, Germany. He received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from Missouri University of Science and Technology. His research mainly focuses on Applied Cryptography and Secure Multi-Party Computation (SMC). His recent work includes developing privacy-preserving distributed protocols for query processing over encrypted data stored on a cloud. These protocols protect the confidentiality of the stored data, user queries, and data access patterns from cloud service providers and other unauthorized users. In Spring 2015, he has selected and awarded by the National Science Foundation as Entrepreneurial lead for the I-Corps program. In January 2016, he joined the Assured Information Management and Sharing (AIMS) research group at Emory University as a postdoctoral fellow in data privacy and health informatics.
